Importance of Personal Finance

Importance of personal finance can't be overstated when it comes to reaching your goals of becoming debt free and self reliant. If you're ready to fulfill your dreams - be it living off your own acreage or just having a little extra freedom, self discipline and planning are crucial.

The Easy and Perilous Way of Waste

It's so unbelievably easy to waste money, even for seasoned cheapskates like me. Since starting this website and undertaking other responsibilities, such as caring for critters, homeschooling and gardening I have to confess that I've gotten a bit overwhelmed, and careless.

Just recently, my husband and I made the decision to take a missionary trip. The plane fare is about a thousand dollars. After carefully examining our finances, I realized that by cutting back on eating out, cooking everything from scratch and other miscellaneous expenses I could save the money for the trip in a little over a month. Ouch! And I thought I was careful with money.

The truth is, many of us waste money without even realizing it. And there are all kinds of ways you can save money, get out of debt and reach your goals. Still need convincing? Here are some other points on the importance of personal finance. Saving Money

It's Fun

The importance of personal finance is it helps you take control of your life, and learn to make wiser choices, which you will find enjoyable and even fun. True, you could buy those shirts and pants for your nine-year-old at the department store, but then you'd miss out on the thrill of finding perfectly good clothes - some with even the tags still on them at a yard sale.

Or how about this: the next time you want one of those pricey iced coffee drinks from the coffee shop, why not learn to make them yourself?

Importance of Personal Finance
It's Healthier

Fast food is not only overpriced, almost all of it is destructive to your health and waistline. Ready to drop some pounds so you don't have to invest in several pants in the larger size? Buy leaf lettuce at the store, along with cucumbers, tomatoes, avocados and carrots. Make your own salad dressing using this healthy spread: One tablespoon of healthy spread, one tablespoon of buttermilk, 1/8 teaspoon of garlic powder, 1/8 teaspoon of onion powder and salt to taste. It will be better than any ranch dressing you buy at the store.
