Water Filters ReviewA water filters review is helpful in determining which gravity water filter is right for you. In an emergency, a good water filtration system will ensure your family will have clean drinking water even if the power goes out for an extended period of time. With a good filtration system, you can capture rain water and filter it for clean drinking water. Here are some different systems to consider:AquaRain© Gravity Water FilterNo water filters review would be complete without including the AquaRain© filtration system. AquaRain© is the Cadillac of gravity water filters that uses ceramic filters that remove bacteria and organisms from your drinking water. Their ceramic filters have a carbon filter bed that is dense and highly absorptive and produces quality drinking water for less than two cents per gallon. The filters will last up to a year even with daily use. These water filtration systems aren't cheap, but considering the amount of money you save in the long run (only two filters per year opposed to buying one filter each month with other systems), this is well worth the investment.
Pur Water Pitcher©At the other end of the price scale of my water filters review is the Pur Water Pitcher©. This filtration system costs less than $20 while removing 99.9% of microbial cysts as well as reducing lead, mercury and chlorine taste and odor in the water. Plus it's small enough to fit in your refrigerator. On the downside, the filter can be slow with this gravity filter, and the pitcher has been known to break as it ages, still this will work if you're on a limited budget. Big Berkey©This is another ceramic filtration system capable of purifying water from lakes, streams, stagnant pools and other water supplies. Like the AquaRain© system, the Berkey© has a stainless steel container and ceramic filter. Cost of this water filtration system is $250 or more.Zero Water© Filtration PitcherIn the middle range of this water filters review is the ZeroWater©, a water filtration system that boasts a reasonable price - less than $40 at the time this was written - and a five-stage filtration process, making for a more complete water filtration than ordinary carbon filters. One neat thing about this water filter is it has a battery-powered meter that tests the water each time it passes through the filter and lets you know when it's time to replace the filter. The downside is, the more contaminated the water is, the less clean water the filter will produce, meaning you may need to have a lot of extra filters on hand if you are hoping to use this filter to purify rain water or water you've collected from a lake or swimming pool in an emergency.
